Can Tissue Salts be defined as a medicine?

No - according to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), tissue salts are classified as dietary supplements and therefore do not need a prescription from a doctor. Tissue salts can also be described as 'Nutroceuticals' - nutritional substances which are used to maintain optimal health and functioning and also to prevent deficiency symptoms and promote balance in systemic functioning.

Tissue Salts may be used daily (usually three times a day) to maintain healthy systemic balance. Frequency may also be increased when more targeted action is necessary. For example, certain combinations of tissue salts may be used three times daily to maintain healthy digestion. However, when other factors, for example overindulgence, cause digestive discomfort, the frequency of dosage may be increased to six or more times a day.
